Wrestling Australia and CombatAUS are pleased to announce the appointment of Andrey Vorontsov to the newly created position of National Performance Lead for Wrestling.
Andrey brings with him a wealth of experience, previously serving as an Executive Director for United World Wrestling (UWW) Asia and UWW Continental Development Officer for Asia. He will work closely with CombatAUS high performance staff, in partnership with Wrestling Australia, to provide system leadership, development and delivery of High Performance & Pathways programs.
Wrestling Australia President, Andrew Kanatli, is excited by the opportunity this presents for Wrestling in Australia.
“The Wrestling Australia Board warmly welcomes its first National Performance Lead and is excited by the opportunities this will provide to the sport in Australia. Andrey brings a great deal of experience to the role, and we look forward to the contributions he will be able to make to Wrestling’s performance programs. We also thank CombatAUS for their continued support of our programs,” he said.
CombatAUS CEO, Alex Vallentine added, “Andrey brings a wealth of Wrestling knowledge and experience to this important new role. This is an exciting time for Wrestling, having moved from a purely volunteer run sport prior to 2022, to now having two staff members supporting the growth and development of Wrestling in Australia.”
“Having this role embedded within CombatAUS will support Wrestling to deliver improved high performance outcomes through holistic program support and alignment to the existing successful programs for Boxing, Judo and Taekwondo,” he said.
Both organisations welcome Andrey on board and look forward to the positive impact this position will bring to Wrestling Australia’s performance programs.
